CONGRATULATIONS to Josh for winning again!
Josh submitted his entry in the Child Abuse Prevention competition in 2006 and won for his age goup. He has  won for his age group again this year. This year's theme was Family and the artwork he created will be on display in the state capital.
He is the ONLY two-time winner of this competition and his achievement is celebrated by all of us! Yay, Josh!

Josh is the son of HDRC caregivers, Jammie and Paula Rubio-Cooley, in a large kinship family. The Cooley family has been participating in HDRC events for more than two years and they are very active in volunteering their time and energy for the benefit of the program and other kinship families.

2008 HUMAN RACE WALK-A-THON

Several walkers from High Desert Relative Caregivers went down to Victor Valley Community College on Saturday, April 12th to walk around the lake. This was a fundraiser which benefits local organizations and a scholarship fund and it was our first year participating. We are very proud of our efforts: Kathy with her cane and Conni with her oxygen tank and walker along with the Cooley family and Carmen Ruiz and a friend were able to walk around the lake on a beautiful morning, enjoying the ducks and taking time to visit. Through the efforts of HDRC kinship families, $501 was donated to the Victor Valley Community Services Council who put on the event. Sixty percent of that will come back to HDRC. We look forward to more participants and more donations next year now that we know how much fun it is!
